Raffles Place

Back In 1822, Sir Stamford Raffles had already intended for Singapore to become a "great commercial emporium" and at the heart of this concept was Raffles Place.

Plans were soon put into action and the existing hill was removed to create an area designated for commercial growth. With the exception of the Japanese occupation years 1942 to 1945), the commercial development of Raffles Place took place continuously.

Towering skyscrapers now fill the area, replacing to old two to four storey banks and businesses of yesteryear
